Catherine has either worked with the individual personally or they have come highly recommended. Catherine Doyle

Founder & Specialist Primary School Teacher

Catherine holds a first class degree in Primary Education and has been teaching within the education system for over 15 years in both Private and State schools. Catherine founded Brightsparks Tuition to share her passion for Education beyond her school pupils. She specialises in SATS for KS1 and KS2 along with the phonics testing in the Early Years. Catherine loves to travel and has a real passion for the underwater. She has even been known to swim with sharks!

Primary & Secondary School Teacher

Yasmin has an impressive 35-year career teaching primary and secondary students. With a Master’s in Education, she’s also a qualified SENCO and nurture teacher. Outside the classroom, she passionately performs with her choir, recently singing at Kaleidoscope at Ally Pally, showcasing her love for the arts.

Specialist Secondary English Teacher

Amy holds a BA in English Literature from Goldsmiths University and a Masters in Creative Writing, for which she was awarded a Distinction. Amy has spent her 10 year career in education working in Secondary state schools, and is the EDI lead at her current school. As a writer herself, Amy’s mission is to promote a love of writing and reading for pleasure to future generations. Amy specialises in KS3/4 English curriculum, GCSE prep and has a lot of experience differentiating resources for SEND students.

Amy loves live music and has been to over a thousand live concerts…and still counting!

Yasmin is a primary school teacher, specialising in early reading and phonics holding a degree in Primary Education. With over 10 years of school experience, she has worked in a variety of key stages and year groups and understands the expectations for each. She understands that all children are different and is committed to planning the best lessons catered to your child’s needs.

As well as teaching children to read, Yasmins also enjoys reading herself- It is her favourite hobby!

Nadia is primary school teacher, who has a specialism in Early years. She is experienced in teaching children from Nursery to year 6. Nadia is also training to be counsellor, which makes her highly insightful when working with children’s emotional needs. She has been working with children for 20 years and teaching for 12 years. Nadia is creative and adaptable which allows her to work well with children with a variety of needs.

As well as her passion for education, she has travelled to over 65 countries and has a thirst for culture.

Olivia

Primary School Teacher & SEN Specialist

Olivia is a primary school teacher with experience teaching all key stages. Last year, she taught in KS2, and this year she is teaching reception. Olivia is also her school’s reading lead, focusing on phonics and whole-school teaching of reading. Additionally, she serves as the school’s SENDco (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

This reflects Olivia’s considerable experience and expertise in helping children with varying needs, such as ADHD, dyslexia, or autism. She understands that each child is different and has unique needs.

Olivia loves reading books. Her favorite authors are Michael Morpurgo, Julia Donaldson, and David McKee.

Olivia is passionate about tutoring because it allows her to provide personalised attention and tailor her teaching strategies to meet individual student needs. She loves seeing the progress her students make and the confidence they gain as they overcome challenges and develop new skills.

Art Specialist

Yolanda has worked in a primary school for the last eleven years as an Art specialist with a focus on teaching Art as therapy. She is experienced in working with children supporting their emotional needs. Through creative process she encourages self esteem, confidence and much more. She also works with gifted and talented children supporting their knowledge and growth. Yolanda has a Fine Art degree and is a working artist. She is also a qualified children’s yoga and mindfulness teacher. She loves working with children and is very passionate about the arts in education.

Secondary School English Teacher

Suv is a qualified secondary English teacher, achieving his BA and PGCE from Brunel University. He has gathered over 15 years of experience, predominantly as Head of Key Stage 3 English where he was responsible for designing multiple programmes of learning that cater to the needs of a wide range of learners. He strongly believes that reading is at the heart of English teaching and centres his teaching around diverse texts. He is also a member of the Steering Group for Let’s Think in English, a cognitive acceleration programme designed at King’s College London, to help pupils develop higher order and critical thinking skills.

Outside of teaching, Suv enjoys hiking and regularly participates in organised sports, including golf, badminton and football.

Andrew Brightsparks Tuition

Andrew

KS2, LAMDA and 11+ specialist

When Andrew left school he trained as a dancer/actor as well as taking his teaching exams. He went on  to perform at Disneyland Paris, dance on cruise ships and perform across the UK with a Theatre in Education company.

He moved on to set up his own drama school preparing students for LAMDA exams. This included working on interview preparation for school interviews too. Later on he retrained as a Primary teacher and he’s now going into his 5th year of year of teaching and 3rd year teaching Year 6 in a local primary school.

As a tutor, he can work with all KS2 children and prepare for SATs and 11+.

Some interesting facts about me:

1) He has a dog that was rescued from a Cyprus dog pound and she is called JoJo. She is a Beagle crossed with a Chihuahua AND Jack Russell! She is wild!

2. He ran 4 Marathons, which is 26.2 miles of running,  in 4 countries! He ran in London, Copenhagen, Edinburgh and The Great Wall of China Marathon! Maybe one day I’ll do an ultra marathon which is 72 miles!!!

3. He lived in Paris and would love to live there one day

Renee is a primary school teacher from Australia with six years of teaching under her belt. While her expertise primarily lies in Key Stage 1, she has also taught across all year levels up to Year 6, giving her a broad and versatile teaching background. Over the past year, Renee has focused extensively on early reading and phonics. She uses practical, hands-on methods to keep children engaged and is dedicated to tailoring her approach to meet the unique learning needs of each child.

Currently based in London, Renee enjoys combining her passion for teaching with her love of travel.

Sadie is a primary school teacher, who is a qualified teacher both in Canada and the United Kingdom. She has experience teaching children from nursery to year 6. Sadie has been teaching for 3.5 years but has 7 years of tutoring experience with a range of year groups. She understands that all children learn different and takes that into consideration when tutoring.

Secondary School Teacher

Olivia is a secondary school teacher who holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Education in Science and English. Olivia specialises in KS3/4 Science curriculum, KS5 Biology, GCSE prep and has experience supporting SEN needs in and out of school settings.

Olivia has worked extensively with children – from being a camp counsellor for 5 years, teaching swimming lessons and volunteering with at-risk youth. Olivia’s goal is to support children to achieve their full potential and to make learning an enjoyable experience.

In addition to her love of teaching, Olivia loves to learn about different countries and cultures by traveling. She has been to 35 countries and plans to continue her adventures travelling.

Dipo Brightsparks Tuition

Mathematics Teacher

Dipo qualified as mathematics teacher in 2005 from the London Institute of Education after achieving his BSc in Computer Engineering from the Kharkov State Technical University of Radio electronic in Ukraine. He is proficient in Russian language.

Before he began his Teaching career, he worked as a Network Engineer for three years before his passion for mathematics education drew him to teaching which was a lifelong ambition growing up.  

He was a main scale mathematics teacher for the first 6 years of his teaching career before he became a mathematics Key stage 3 coordinator. He has a passion for curriculum development right from Key stage 3 for Key stage 4 making sure all learners are catered for regardless of where they might be on the learning journey.

‘Dipo is a strong believer every child can achieve set goals, and he has for 19 years illuminated the connections within mathematics for students he has taught, thus enabling them to have a deeper understanding to apply learnt skills not just in preparation for academics but life after school regardless of a student’s chosen career path.

He also realises all learners have a different learning curve and continues to navigate this with learners in his charge wherever on the learning spectrum they might be. Tutoring gives him the opportunity to personalise learning to suit learners which otherwise could be an uphill task  in a large class.      

In his spare time Dipo enjoys watching football, playing chess and quite passionate about DIY.

Katie Brightsparks Tuition

Katie

Primary School Teacher

Katie is a primary school teacher with extensive experience across key stages. She has taught in Year 5 and spent two years in Year 1, where she developed a strong foundation in Phonics and early reading. As the Science Subject Lead at her school, she integrates her passion for science into her teaching and supports her colleagues in delivering engaging science lessons.

Currently, Katie teaches a Year 6 class, where she plays a crucial role in guiding her students through the SATs process. She actively participates in SATs booster sessions, helping to prepare her students for the assessments and ensuring they feel confident and ready.

With many years of tutoring experience ranging from age 3 to the end of primary school, Katie thrives on the opportunity to work one-on-one with students. She tailors her approach to meet their individual needs, optimising their progress and fostering a love for learning.

Katie holds a degree in Psychology, where she thoroughly enjoyed units in Educational Psychology. This background has deepened her understanding of the barriers to learning and provided her with effective strategies to help students overcome challenges in their education.
